About My Social Media Timeline: Week Two Since I Moved to A2

If you haven’t already, please read Part 1 as I explain the outline of this series. 🙂

      • LOL, the Yelp reviews for the CCRB are hilarious.
        • To all of you that thought I’d have access to a state-of-the-art gym, take it from this Yelper that it is the “worst gym in the Big10 and kinda embarrassed that UofM allowed this gym to be the ‘main’ gym in campus for so long without putting any money into it.”

      • I wore a jacket thinking I’d be cold since I’m not used to this temperature this time of year and I always get cold inside buildings.
      • This day is when I first met my classmates from my cohort! We drank and I ate at RoosRoast where there was no AC, so I was not cold inside the building.
        • I told my classmates about my Yelp Elite status and they were impressed. 😂
      • A few of us then ventured over to the next restaurant we saw along the way, Pretzel Bell. I ordered dessert.
        • My review is actually based on an incident I’ll describe two days after dining here.
      • Then we checked out where one of my classmates lives, the graduate residence hall.
        • I’ll let the view from the rooftop above and my review speak for how impressed I was.
        • I love a nice play on words of the fight song to encourage proper hand washing in the restroom. 😂

      • One of my other fitness goals besides continuing my fitness journey in the middle of my demanding grad school schedule is to run a mile in 10 minutes, which I’ve never done in my lifetime.
        • I wanted to take the bus to run in this field. This was the day when I realized that public transit times aren’t so accurate here and I didn’t know yet about the live maps of where your bus is at. I got impatient so I walked to run on this track. I’m pretty sure the calories I burnt walking to the field were the same as my exercise that day.
        • I like running outside only if it’s sunny. I’d also like as much as possible if the entire distance I ran could extend to one single loop, which is why I like trail running > an outdoor track > an indoor track >> a treadmill. It’s just monotonous seeing the same thing for at least 2.5 mi long. I like how the track is at least a larger, quarter-mile-long distance.

      • I’m not shocked by how many people view my IG stories, but instead, specifically who does now but who didn’t view them before I moved.
        • I know I’m making an unnecessarily big deal out of this, but speaking of who view my stories, I would love to do some data analysis hahaha. I also wish it timestamped who views it at what time, how many times they view the same story, etc.
      • But seriously, this day was when I realized I needed to get a grip on my schedule now, otherwise, I’m going to continually fall behind my coursework, professional development, errands, social commitments, fitness journey, spiritual journey, writing Yelp reviews, etc.
      • In an effort to explore other places on campus in which to work out, I tried out the Intramural Sports Building. It is much nicer than CCRB as in it at least has AC lol. But it does have less equipment and no free lockers.

      • I start a series called #A2yellowhouses because of how appropriate and often I’ve seen houses painted yellow/maize in the town of UM! I tried to inconspicuously take this pic omw to meet my mentoring community for the first time.

      • I visited another park that day.
        • Here’s another video of what I think are a couple of groundhogs, too.
            • Side note: I guess since this video was taken in portrait, I couldn’t upload it through WordPress without the uploader automatically changing it to landscape. If anyone who one, got this far in my post lol and two, has any idea how I can do this, please lmk! Otherwise, I guess I’ll just upload it through YouTube, but it’s not as aesthetically pleasing lol.

    • Other Yelp reviews:
    • Facebook
      • I’m never going to link my FB to my blog. Although it’s not hard to find me on FB and the majority of you who read this are already FB friends, idk, I still like to keep my FB my most private social media account.
      • Anyway, on FB, I shared that I saw Crazy Rich Asians, which I overall recommend watching! Perhaps on a separate and more serious post, I can talk about my feelings as an Asian, yet non-Chinese person watching the movie.

      • The start of orientation! I already document it in my last series of blog posts so I won’t go into detail again in this series.
        • However, I will say this, yet I know this should be a blog post on its own: It’s interesting how SSW would call itself out on its lack of diversity. However, if I had attended an MSW program in the south, I’d probably be the only PoC. That does not excuse UM’s need for more diversity, but as a southerner coming into this school, I am excited to learn from my diverse classmates.
    • Yelp
      • Lunch break. Also, I’m sad I didn’t take a pic of my food lol.

      • I know I said wasn’t going to go into detail about orientation since I already did that lol, but I just really want to reiterate the points I made on my IG post that day.

It's orientation so I'm counting today as the first day of school. . This is a friendly reminder to: ⏺ you that my accomplishments should never, ever take away from your own strengths and value. ⏺ me that no one else's accomplishments, no one else's past treatment of me will ever take away the fact that I'm attending the best social work program in the country, in what I already think is one of the coolest towns, surrounded by inviting and brilliant classmates, pursuing one of the toughest yet most rewarding careers. ⏺ anyone who has treated me worse for not being as "accomplished," thank you for reminding me how to never, ever treat another person. ⏺ everyone else who believed in me when others and I didn't believe in myself, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope I can uplift y'all the way you've done for me.
